Slavko Duzdevich- Perez DDS

Dr. Slavko Duzdevich-Perez is one of the founding members of ProSmile. A 1986 graduate of the Dental School at Stony Brook New York, he completed his undergraduate degree at City College at CUNY. After several years of working in Puerto Rico with the National Health Corps, Dr. Duzdevich-Perez was appointed Director of Dental Services at Hospital Castañer. Although life was idyllic in Puerto Rico, his heart was in New York. So upon returning to the Big Apple in 1990, Dr. Duzdevich spent the next few years honing his cosmetic dentistry skills and on the way became associate professor at New York Medical College.

From 1992 thru 1998, he was chief resident with the Health & Hospital Corp of New York, Associate professor and attending Resident at Metropolitan Hospital, New York.

In 1996, Dr. Duzdevich-Perez, along with his brother Vel (also a dentist), founded ProSmile with the primary goal of providing not just great dental treatment, but great service.

The idea behind ProSmile was simple: to implement the administrative and teaching experience gathered over the years with the advanced knowledge of dental procedures and combines these in one office so as to provide patients with overall great dentistry and great service. And to provide a dynamic and ever growing environment for employees where ProSmile is not a job, but their lifestyle.

We are proud to say that today, over 10 years later, ProSmile is one of the leading dental providers in the New York area. We have the lowest employee turnaround in the industry. Our employees are some of the most knowledgable and service oriented in the dental profession. They are happy to be here, and our patients are happy to be here.

And all this makes Dr. S. Duzdevich-Perez a very happy man!

Velebit P. Duzdevich DMD

Dr. Vel Duzdevich received his Bachelors of Science from Herbert H. Lehman College in Anthropology and Biology and Chemistry. He then received his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1990. As a young doctor, he worked in various union dental mills where he learned this was not the way people should be treated.

In his search to be a better practitioner, Dr. Vel became an attending doctor at St. Barnabas Hospital’s Correctional Facility. Later, for many years, as an Associate Professor of New York Medical College at St. Claire’s Hospital (the very same hospital in which he was born in), and St. Vincent’s Medical Center, he helped trained numerous young doctors undergoing their residencies.

He also became an Associate Professor at the New York University School of Dentistry to fulfill his desire to mentor dental students in the science and art of his profession. After those many years of associate professorship and attending at hospitals, it was time to concentrate his discipline in private practice.

Dr. Vel and his brother founded ProSmile with the intent on providing extraordinary dentistry. Over the next few years, and working out of the west side of Manhattan, they built ProSmile into a family orientated practice. With both doctors hospital trained, patients are infrequently referred out and almost all dental work is done on the premises.

To perfect his art, Dr. Vel pursued specialized education in bone and soft tissue regeneration, which lead to a Fellowship and a Masters in Dental Implant with the American Dental Implant Association.

As a result of his personality, higher education and over twenty years working in his profession, ProSmile has grown into a friendly and caring dental practice where patients feel comfortable and safe.
